By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

At Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School Prestons, we have high expectations and engage our students in rigorous and challenging learning experiences that ignite curiosity, imagination, and creativity. Students work collaboratively with their peers and teachers to actively explore their world. We encourage students to take risks and value mistakes as significant opportunities for learning and growth.

Our teaching and learning programs are thoughtfully and intentionally designed to cater to the needs of each student, responsive to data analysis, student feedback, passions, and interests. This approach prepares each student to be successful lifelong learners who make a positive contribution to society.

Recent achievements highlight our commitment to excellence. Our NAPLAN results demonstrate strong growth, particularly in reading and writing. Gifted and talented students achieve outstanding results in various competitions, including Maths Olympiads, Maths Games, University of NSW ICAS Competitions, and The Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. Additionally, many of our students compete at the highest levels in sports, representing NSW in events such as the NSW Catholic Primary School Mackillop Swimming and Cross Country Championships.
